A Journey of Faith, Hope, and Purpose
Faced with the reality of two generations of prostate cancer diagnoses, prostate cancer survivor and author David McElhaney uses his own prognosis to launch him into patient advocacy and education.
Armed with an MBA from Orlando College, McElhaney found a natural progression that moved him from medical sales to recruitment, a career change that relocated him to Huntsville, Alabama. However, after the discovery of a 10cm kidney stone, he discovered that ignoring a familial trait would alter the direction of his life.
Forced to retire in 2019 due to his Prostate Cancer treatment, he found himself taking copious notes during his medical consultations, a habit that would lead to the publishing of “My Walk with God Through Prostate Cancer, which combines his personal story and a guide for others experiencing the disease.
After entering remission in 2020, McElhaney volunteered with Zero Prostate Cancer, a non-profit organization for prostate cancer, where he mentors men going through the process he finds all too familiar. It was during this time that he played an instrumental role in the legislative decision that allow men in Alabama to get tested earlier than the outdated previous requirement.
David embraces his divine calling, often referring to himself as an “alarm clock” for men who unknowingly “sleep” through their own conditions. Currently, he resides in Huntsville with his beautiful wife, Mary Jo. It is his continued hope that, through his work, he will help men remove the stigma of testing while providing hope and guidance on their healing journey.

What Our Clients Say
Three days after my prostate cancer diagnosis in 2021 I met Mac. He overheard me discussing my cancer with friends in a restaurant. He gave me a copy of his book, My Walk With God Through Prostate Cancer. I quickly learned that Mac has a calling to encourage, educate, and advocate for men facing prostate cancer. His book, emails, and zoom meetings were very helpful in my walk through prostate cancer.

Through the challenges brought by a prostate cancer diagnosis we are reminded that most challenges can be converted to opportunities for supporting one another. One of the rewards of finding a place of support on this prostate journey is the satisfaction of knowing and being known by a great group of guys who discover they CAN give AND receive by sharing common and uncommon knowledge, information, and experiences.
